Laptop Screens and Displays FAQs

Does Laptop Parts SA sell replacement laptop screens?

Yes. Laptop Parts SA supplies laptop LCD screens, LCD/LED panels and display assemblies for Apple MacBooks, iMacs and other major laptop brands. The screens sizes range from 8.9 inches to 27 inches.

How do I find the correct replacement screen for my laptop?

The correct screen should be matched using the laptop model and, ideally, the existing screen's part number. Resolution, screen size, connector type, mounting points, panel specifications and cable compatibility should also be checked before ordering.

Can I replace a 1366×768 laptop screen with a Full HD screen?

Sometimes, but not automatically. The laptop must support the replacement resolution and the display connector, cable, panel dimensions and mounting configuration must be compatible. Check compatibility for the exact laptop model before upgrading.

Can I upgrade my laptop screen to a higher refresh rate?

Sometimes. A higher-refresh-rate screen requires compatibility with the laptop's display interface, cable, graphics hardware and physical mounting configuration. Do not assume that a screen with the same size and connector will support a higher refresh rate.

Does Laptop Parts SA sell MacBook display panels?

Yes. Laptop Parts SA lists Apple MacBook LCD display panels  and complete display assemblies for multiple MacBook models. Display panels are listed for vintage models 2010-2012 and MacBook Air Display panels 2010 -2017. For vintage models, a client has a choice of purchasing the panel and pay for installation service or buy a full display assembly and gets free fitting.

Does Laptop Parts SA sell complete LCD assemblies?

Yes. Laptop Parts SA lists both LCD/display components and complete Apple MacBook display assemblies, depending on the model. All models Retina display models, laptop parts SA lists only display assemblies and not LCD panels. Because of the risk involved in the process of installation of LCD panels.

How do I know whether I need an LCD panel or a complete display assembly?

A replacement LCD panel may be appropriate when the panel itself is damaged and the other display components are reusable. A complete display assembly may be required when additional components such as the display housing, camera, cables or hinges are involved. However, for MacBook and iMac Retina display models from 2012, it is highly recommended to install complete display assemblies because of the risks involved in the fitting of panels. Therefore,  the exact MacBook or laptop model determines what replacement options are available.

Why can two laptop screens with the same size still be incompatible?

Laptop screens of the same physical size can use different resolutions, connectors, mounting points, refresh rates, panel technologies and cables. Screen size should therefore never be the only compatibility check.
